“Silke has magic hands and a wonderful presence"
Therapeutic Massage
Massage is an ancient art of healing, believed to be as old as mankind itself. The benefits of bodywork are widely recognized to include the release of tension, tightness, and toxins from your body through manipulation of muscle tissue. It can improve circulation, posture, joint range, metabolic function, immunity, lymph flow, and overused muscles. It can increase respiratory function, lower blood pressure, and induce a state of deep relaxation and well-being.
My unique style of massage blends techniques from many modalities in order to address your unique body condition and intentions. I will always tailor the massage to your individual needs. I make my own massage cream to ensure a quality product free of preservatives and chemicals, blended with personalized Young Living essential oils.
These are the main massage modalities I am currenlty utilizing in my practice:
Acupressure: Acupressure is a form of touch therapy that utilizes the principles of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. It involves the use of finger pressure (without the needles) on specific points along the body on the meridian pathways. It is a powerful yet gentle way to restore the flow of chi and help reestablish physical, emotional, and mental health.
Aromatherapy: Aromatherapy is the use of pure essential oils for curative and rejuvenating effects. Depending on your needs, I will integrate a special blend from Young Living Essential Oils to reduce stress and tension, refresh and invigorate your body, balance emotions, and clear the mind. The essential oils are absorbed through the skin and into the body to affect physiological change. When inhaled the aroma directly affects the limbic area of the brain that is related to emotions and memories.
Chi Nei Tsang: Chi Nei Tsang focuses primarily on the abdomen and internal organs to clear the body of tensions, blockages, physical toxins, and emotional charges. I will work on your abdomen with a deep, soft, and gentle touch to improve the overall energy flow of your body and to train your internal organs to work more efficiently.
Deep Tissue Massage: Deep tissue massage is a more precisely focused massage used to alleviate pain and release chronic patters of tension. It is designed to reach deep muscles and fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds all muscles and organs of the body; when restricted, it causes the muscles to bind. Working deeply can help unstuck individual muscle fibers, rehydrate muscle fibers, and reestablish the flow of oxygen, blood and nourishment to the tissue. Deep tissue massage releases toxins and deeply held patterns of tension.
Neuromuscular Therapy: Neuromuscular therapy includes trigger points to aid in the recovery from acute and chronic pain. It brings about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system and enhances the function of joints, muscles, and movement.
Pregnancy Massage - Prenatal and Postpartum: Pregnancy places a strong demand on a woman's body. If you are considering pregnancy, are currently pregnant, or have recently gone through the birthing experience, this massage may be for you. This focused massage offers a a variety of techniques developed specifically for women and include massage, acupressure, and integrated reflexology.
Preconception: Preconception massage, also known as fertility massage, is designed to support and assist your body's natural reproductive proccesses and rhythms. I will focus on cleansing and clearing the body of adhesions and energetic blockages, increasing blood flow to the spine and pelvis, and helping you to relax.
Prenatal: This massage is great for aiding your body as it goes through many adjustments. It helps to relieve the tensions and aches caused by the extra weight and shift in the center of gravity to the body, reduces swelling, helps with crampy legs, soothes the nervous system, acts as a tonic, reduces fatigue, allows for better sleep at night, and enhances energy.
Postpartum: Especially the first six weeks after delivery, your body is going through many physical and hormonal changes. Postpartum massage helps to relieve the soreness and muscle tension from labor, re-establishes the structural integrity of the pelvis, ribs, and internal organs, reduces stress hormones, and supports overall emotional well-being.
Reflexology: More than a foot massage, reflexology is a science based on the principle that nerve endings imbedded in the feet correspond to all of the organs and systems in the body. By stimulating those nerve endings or reflex points through micromovement techniques and light but firm compression, the body can be restored to enhanced functioning and health. Sometimes lactic acid can be felt in the foot in the form of little crystals. This is a sediment which might indicate congestion. It can be crushed and eliminated through the lymph system.
Reiki: Reiki is a healing technique of transmitting universal life energy by placing the hands gently on specific positions on the body. This may relieve pain, restore vitality and well-being, and aid spiritual growth.
Sports Massage: This special form of massage is typically used before, during, and after athletic events to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Depending on the needs of the athlete, a variety of techniques are used including classic Swedish strokes, cross-fiber friction, pressure-point work, and joint mobilization.
Swedish-Esalen Massage: Probably the most widely used massage modality. It uses long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, percussion, and vibration techniques to work on the more superficial layers of muscles. Swedish massage harmonizes the body, mind, and spirit while relieving pain and increasing the lymphatic flow and overall mobility in the body. It is wonderful for deep relaxation, promotes deep circulation, and is revitalizing with light touch.
